Livestream is done.
Remember parties? Remember OUR parties? Barely? Here’s a refresher of that time we did Dance Karaoke. And here’s that time we did a chiptune dance party and did “The Timewarp” for Halloween. And here’s that time we took over a whole damn museum.
Mission Arcade was a secret party that would happen in arbitrarily chosen spots in San Francisco and it celebrated the odd intersection of dancing, singing and video games. The last scheduled Mission Arcade was scheduled for March 13, 2020 but was canceled due to the pandemic.
But now we’re going to try to bring that energy online!
The DANCE PARTY starts at 11:00pm PST, but we’re going to start a countdown with music at 10pm and we’ll be livestreaming a video and music feed online (check back on this page at 10pm for the link!)
10:00pm - Lo-fi Hip-Hop Pre-game (Livechat opens)
10:30pm - Vintage New Year’s Eve music
11:00pm - VIDEO GAME DANCE PARTY AND COUNTDOWN TO 2021!
Featuring mashed up and remixed dance music from games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros., Katamari Damacy, and more!
We know some of you will be having your own Zoom parties while this livestream plays.
We hear that some of the gaymers are taking edibles and blissing out to the visuals for the dance mix.
We know some dancers who will be hosting a “dance party zoom” using our livestream as the pinned video.
We have friends who will be driving cross country and playing the livestream in their truck. (Stay safe!)
We know a family who will be projecting our livestream using their new amazing short-throw projector and they’re turning their living room into a dancefloor for an hour.
We know a couple who are using the HueDisco app to sync their lights with our livestream to turn their apartment into a nightclub.
We know a guy who’s going to be livestreaming himself while dancing to our livestream.
And we know someone who says they’re going to be “serving virtual drinks”. (Still don’t have details on how that’s going to work.)
Whatever you choose to do with our livestream, I hope you dance. And if you shoot video of yourselves dancing/playing/singing for social media, hashtag it #MissionArcade so we can find it. :) Come enjoy the music and the company as we reunite with each other via live chat. It’s been a while since we’ve all seen each other in person, so let’s have some fun as we say goodbye to this infernal year. Seriously, 2020, FOH.
(Oh, and you might notice that a couple of tracks that I play on New Year’s Eve are some unreleased songs and remixes of mine. :)
